The Electric Coalition of Wisconsin was formed in 1996 by several Wisconsin electric cooperatives. These cooperatives recognized the need to stay abreast of many different aspects of the cooperative business. As the industry was becoming more complex, each cooperative realized they could take advantage of each others strengths and knowledge. This resulted in a cohesive group that together could do more than as individuals.

Today, the Electric Coalition of Wisconsin (ECWI) serves as a industry insight group that benefits all of its members, and even those cooperatives that are not members of the coalition. Together, they have provided member system employees with information and benefits that enhance their lives.

ECWI makes available to its members a cost effective health care plan that works to maintain costs and still provide the type of coverage desired by cooperative employees. Direct control by a board of trustees assures members that their interests are protected since each trustee understands the industry and its unique needs.

As a group that meets quarterly, the ECWI members can address important issues facing their cooperatives in a timely manner. Often times the members learn of issues that will be soon be an issue for all cooperatives by hearing the experiences of one member.

Wisconsin Electric Cooperatives and certain organizations that are directly related to Wisconsin Electric Cooperatives are eligible for membership in the ECWI. If your cooperative is interested in becoming a member of the ECWI you may contact us at membership@ecwi.org and we will contact you shortly.
